Life’s Too Short

It looks like I’m not the only one who dislikes TI3.

Chris Farrell says “Another rather disappointing space-empire-building game that takes too long to play, and at any rate simply devolves into Diplomacy plus a lot of work.”

  2. Yeah, TI3 really irked me. I mean jeez, they weren’t even trying to make a workable game, they were just throwing together all the standard bits of empire-building space games, plus maybe ripping off a little bit of Puerto Rico, with apparently no conception of how to make an actual game. What makes it so aggravating is that it’s such a step backwards. Good games along these lines have been done so many times – Titan, Dune, Civilization, Successors, Revolution, even Risk – there really is no excuse for putting out such a half-baked, lame effort as TI3 anymore. Except that apparently people still buy them for some reason.

  3. TI3 wound me up horribly. I was grumpy until at least Sunday lunchtime. Writing my last post was cathartic at least.

  4. I know that “why do I even like this hobby” feeling – usually after an unsatisfactory multiplayer experience. I have to agree that conflict games are usually a lot more fun 2-player.
