inconsequential ruminations

A minimalist blog, with a pretentious title, about strategy games.

BoardGameGeek posts to individual game forums

with 2 comments

Having given up on the cliques at Spielfrieks and the flame wars and trolls at rec.games.board, I now just occasionally read the forums at the BoardGameGeek. Unfortunately for me, most of the time people discuss games in general and not specific games, so I was pleased to find a link to all the latest posts in the individual game forums. I am pretty sure this was unavailable before the site reorganisation.

  1. I thought this faciltiy had always been there even before they moved everything into forums.

However, I prefer to use the RSS feeds to track specific games that I am interested in. That way I don’t have to wade through endless comments on, say, War of the Ring.

  2. You’re probably right. I just found myself getting bored with all the non-specific chatter.

I agree, the RSS feeds are good. I use them especially to track people rather than games. The only problem with RSS feeds is that I always feel obliged to read all the entries on them! If it’s a web page I can dip in and out of it. I suppose it’s just a question of me readjusting my psychology. :)
