  1. I don’t know about that. I have been listening to the Have Games Will Travel href=”http://havegameswilltravel.libsyn.com” rel=”nofollow”>Have Games Will Travel href=”http://havegameswilltravel.libsyn.com” rel=”nofollow”>http://havegameswilltravel.libsyn.com podcast which is half about the cutting edge of RPGs e.g.:

They look way too ambitious for my group. Savage Worlds href=”http://www.peginc.com/Games/Games.htm” rel=”nofollow”>Savage Worlds href=”http://www.peginc.com/Games/Games.htm” rel=”nofollow”>http://www.peginc.com/Games/Games.htm might get a look in, but we’ll have to see.

  2. Interesting links; particularly the Polaris one which seems to be more IF than RPG. Nothing remotely like this is going to ever get a look in with our lot. One group I used to play in ran RPG’s alongside the usual CCG’s and BG’s; but none I’m in now.

For me personally (and possibly for the rest of them) it’s the time factor. Back in the day my C&S 2nd Edn campaign took me two years to put together and only ever got as far as a character creation session. Lots of time invested, no return. The saddest part is, years after I would occasionally take out my notes for the campaign setting and add to them. I still have a little exercise book with a few maps in, but have lost the book in which I invented three languages as background and no more is the initial adventure and quest I was using to set up a transcontinental plotline.

Okay, I’ll stop now… this must be getting boring and is waaay off-topic!

  3. Your experience of RPGs is identical to mine. I spent hours and hours poring over rulebooks and designing scenarios, but hardly ever got playtime with them.

Savage Worlds does promise very quick play and the rules are simple, so it might just be possible, I just need to get buy-in from the boys, which will be difficult.

It’s not boring! I’d love to get back into RPGs. So many games, so little time…
