Age of Steam PBEM

with 9 comments

Phillip Lerche is running an excellent AoS PBEM site. I am currently playing on the Western US map. It’s surprising how well AoS works by email, considering the complexity and interactivity of the turns. Phillip’s web graphics make a big difference.

Phillip is also playtesting a London Underground map. It would be great if Warfrog published a working version.

  3. Sorry. I emailed Phillip for an answer, but no reply. I think he is out of town. I should have thought about that before my post! I will let you know as soon as I get an answer.

  4. Mmmh I think I have the answer, it looks like there is Cyberboard module for Age of Steam, with a Yahoo group. I am still searching for the documentation though.

  5. Hi, sorry it has taken a couple of days to reply – I was having a wisdom tooth extracted. Almost better now…

Oliver, the yahoo group for playing AoS by email is here href=”http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/AoS_pbem/” rel=”nofollow”>here href=”http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/AoS_pbem/” rel=”nofollow”>http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/AoS_pbem/

Most of the players running games use the cyberboard software. It is only PC compatible, and I have a mac. I run my games using maps made (and adjusted each turn) in photoshop.

Definitely ask for players or to get into a game at the yahoo group, unfortunately I don’t have experience with the cyberboard.

  6. Thank you for the answer. In between, I have found the Yahoo group, downloaded Cyberboard and I am trying to see how it works.
Thank you for the answer !

  7. You will not regret it. It’s an excellent PBEM game. Just be prepared for some confusion over track-building.

  8. I have little interest in PBEM, but count me among the people who would be interested in the London Underground map…is there any possibility this could be “released” on the Geek in the form of a jpeg or PDF file at some point?

I would be more than happy to have it printed out and laminated if it turns out well!

  9. Michael, I am currently testing the Undergound map out. This is its first playtest, so things may change in the future. Once I am happy with the map and rules, then I’ll be looking for a more public release. May be a while, though.
